From the Weekly Nevada State Journal, (Reno, NV), December 10, 1881:
"The census has cost $4,000,000, but it was a tremendous job,
was well done, and is well worth the money."
From the Weekly Nevada State Journal, (Reno, NV), December 3, 1881:
"THE CENSUS - Official Report of the Census Bureau of Our
Population by States. - The annual report of the Census Bureau,
covering its operations since the 1st of December, 1880, has
been submitted to the Secretary of the Interior...On the 1st of
December last the number of employes was 1,084. The maximum of
the clerical force was reached on the 15th of March, 1881, when
the number of employes was 1,495...The revised and corrected
returns of population show the following to be accurate:

From the Wellsboro Agitator, (Wellsboro, PA), May 24, 1881:
"The census bulletin No. 115 just issued shows that the center
of population according to the census of 1880 is in Kentucky one
mile from the south bank of the Ohio river and 11 miles southeast
of the village of Taylorsville."
